A Little Shot of Spring

Hi All! January is winding down, and with it the Close To My Heart Year >> Noted paper and stamp kit. These papers have been a delight to create with, and once January is gone, so are they.

So I wanted to share a little treat box I made for a couple of friends. (Well, actually, this one went to my hubby since it was full of York Peppermint Patties, but I made 2 others just like it for my friends.)

This is such an awesome little box, if I do say so myself. It holds a surprising amount for its size. The box is made from a 5x7 inch piece of Year >> Noted cardstock. I used my Martha Stewart butterfly punch to punch a butterfly from the patterned paper layer and then backed the silhouette with White Daisy cardstock. I then replaced the butterfly using mini glue dots on the body only, leaving the wings free and elevated for dimension. The sentiment is from the Sweeter With You stamp. (This is quickly becoming one of my favorite stamps, especially for treat boxes.) I stamped it in Smoothie Exclusive Ink on White Daisy using the second generation stamping method (that is, stamping the initial impression on a scrap piece of paper and then using the second impression for the sentiment on my box). I cut it out using my 2-inch scalloped circle punch (retired from CTMH) and inked around the edges with Smoothie. I added it to the box with dimensional adhesive. For the final touches, I added clear sparkles to the butterfly body and tied the box closed with (retired) color ready seam binding.

Here are some close-ups:

And here's my box, once again:

I love the warm springy colors of the Year >> Noted collection. (They are especially delightful today as I watch the snow come down with a vengeance here in the East.) I hope you enjoyed my little box. A video tutorial is forthcoming. Have a wonderfully warm Monday!

  1. Lovely! I really like how you used that butterfly. I own that punch too so I may be giving this a try. Stay safe and warm out there my friend!

  2. Oh, very cute treat boxes, Kim! The sentiment is perfect for this. And I love the dimension on the butterfly wings, too!
