Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share: Sweet Little Hi

Hi All! Welcome to Day 1 of the Kraft-y Hearts' Taste of Summer Blog Share. If you just hopped over from Lynn Darda's fabulously inspiring blog, you're in the right place. If you haven't been over to see what Lynn's cooked up for you at the Bungalow, be sure you do!

In case you didn't realize it, May is almost over! HELLO??? Wow did this month just zoom by in the Hill house! My kids were reminding me yesterday that they only have 8 more school days left before summer. (Of course, these are the same kids who noted the day after spring break that there was only 10 weeks of school left....)

Anyway, when May ends, Close To My Heart's gorgeous Taste of Summer paper will retire. So over the next three days, we Kraft-y Hearts wanted to share a few projects that celebrate the Taste of Summer.

Let's take a look:

For this card, I used a standard White Daisy card base layered with the strawberry patch paper from Taste of Summer. The base layer is the back of the paper cut at 4 x 5 1/4 inches. I then flipped the paper over and attached a 3 x 5 1/4-inch layer. The sentiment (which is retired) is stamped in Black Archival Ink on a 2-inch square of White Daisy cardstock. I colored it in with the ink brushes that I made. (You can see more on that here.) I used Hollyhock, Cotton Candy, and Topiary Exclusive Re-Inkers, and added Pink Glitter Gems and Diamond Stickles for a bit of bling.

For the pennants at the bottom, I used a little more of the back side of the paper along with the zip strip from the top of the paper. I added White Shimmer Trim and some more Pink Glitter Gems for extra sparkle.

Here are some close-ups:

And here is the card with the paper patterns reversed:

And here they are together:

I love using double-sided papers in card making. It's so easy to change the look of a card just by flipping the layers over. Remember: these papers retire at the end of May, so get them while you can. And if you haven't stopped by From My Bungalow yet, hop on over and see what the amazingly talented Lynn has for your inspiration!

Don't forget to stop back by tomorrow for another little Taste of Summer....

  3. Really adorable, Kim! There's just something SO happy about fruit prints, isn't there? Makes us all nostalgic for summer, I think. Loving the little berries here, and love the fun sentiment lettering. The bits of glittered accents you added are really beautiful, too!
