Rose Blossom Blog Hop: Happiness = Ice Cream

Hi All! Welcome to the Rose Blossom Blog Hop celebrating the Close To My Heart's June Stamp of the Month: Ice Cream Dream. If you just hopped over from the oh-so-talented Shelly Nemitz's blog, Just One Pretty Piece, you're in the right place! If you're just joining the fun and want to start at the beginning, I'll have a list of participants at the end of this post. Now, on with the project!

My daughter is a HUGE fan of ice cream, so when I saw this set I knew that I needed to make something she could hang in her room that would give her a smile. Here's what I came up with:

I started with a MyCreations 6x6 canvas display and covered it in gesso. I then painted the background using craft paints from my stash. I stamped the sentiment on White Daisy cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, heat set it with my craft heater, and colored in "Happiness," "Ice Cream," and the "&" with Shin Han Touch markers in Turquoise Blue (B68), Leaf Green (GY234), and Cherry Pink (R5) respectively. I added Diamond Stickles for sparkle, and let it dry.

While the sentiment was drying, I stamped my ice creams in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on White Daisy cardstock and heat set the ink again. (If you heat set the ink or give it a good hour to thoroughly dry before using you alcohol ink marker, then the ink on the stamped image won't bleed.) After the images were dry, I colored them in with my Shin Han markers. For the popsicle sticks, I used Pastel Peach (YR26) and Barely Beige (YR 29), and for the ice cream cones I used Pastel Peach, Barely Beige, and Mahogany (BR96). The purple ice cream is Peony Purple (P282) with Lavender (P83), the yellow ice cream is Golden Yellow (Y222) with Marigold (YR24), and the blue ice cream is Turquoise Blue with Peacock Green (BG61). Finally, the green popsicle is Leaf Green with Vivid Green (G46) and the orange popsicle is Golden Yellow and Marigold with Carmine (R11). The ice cream sundae was colored with Copic markers (I had softer colors in those that worked better for the glass dish), except for the cherry, which is Cherry Pink, Carmine, and Mahogany.

I used my white gel pen by Signo to do some doodling on the back ground, and added a strip of Gold Shimmer Trim for a bit of bling. I glued the ice ice cream cones and the orange popsicle onto the canvas with Liquid Glass and popped the green popsicle and sundae up with slivers of Thin 3D Foam Tape and popped the sentiment up with two layers of regular Foam Tape. I added some white accents to the ice cream along with Windsor & Newton's iridescent water color medium to give it a bit of shimmer. And finally, I topped it off with a little white seam binding bow.

Here are some close-ups:

I hope you enjoyed this little piece! Now hop on over to the ever-inspiring Morgan Vogt's blog, TweetScraps, and see what she has in store for you today.
