Kraf-y Hearts' Friday Focus: Nevermore

Hi All! Welcome to the September addition of Kraft-y Hearts' Friday Focus. Today we're focusing on the Nevermore Halloween Collection by Close To My Heart. You can find this collection in the brand-spankin'-new Holiday Expressions catalog.

This year, we're planning on hosting a Halloween do, so I'll probably be sharing quite a few home decor and treat packaging projects as the event gets closer. Today we'll start off with a little door hanger I made using an unfinished wooden frame I picked up at my local craft store for a dollar.

And just a little bit of a closer look:

To begin with, I covered the pressboard insert in the frame with Nevermore paper, and inked around the edges with Black ink. (The two patterns I'm using here are the front and back of one of the sheets of paper.) I set aside the insert and then inked around the sides and inside edges of the frame with Black ink as well. I then covered the front and back of the frame with the Nevermore striped paper and re-inked the edges.  I also covered the back of the insert with stripes to match. I ended up not liking the back so I placed the insert back in the frame and covered the whole back with Black cardstock and inked the edges. It looks more finished that way.

After I finished covering the frame, I began to decorate the inside with elements from the Nevermore Complements pack. This pack comes with SO MANY elements, including acetate pieces, kraft paper pieces and cardstock stickers.  I layered all of the pieces together in the corner over some black tulle ribbon from my stash. (I also used this ribbon for the hanger.) I added some new Coral Shimmer Trim  to the grouping for additional color, and some Black Sparkle Flourishes for some bling. The bats, pumpkins, moon, and "happy halloween" are all cardstock stickers. (The sentiment and pumpkins I altered by fussy cutting the images after sticking them to scraps of paper. I also added some Liquid Glass to the bats to give them a little texture and shine.)

Here are some close-ups:

And here is the frame hanging on our basement door. (It will go to a more prominent place as Halloween approaches.)

And that is my Friday Focus project for September. Be sure to stop by the Bungalow and see what inspiring project Lynn has for you today!
