Friday Focus: La Vie En Rose

Hi All! Welcome to the first Friday Focus of 2016! Today we're focusing on Close To My Heart's La Vie En Rose collection. This collection is full of gorgeous black and white patterns with pops of reds, pinks and greens.

For this project I wanted to showcase the black and white patterns in the papers. Since I'm still in need of thank you notes (really, can you EVER have too many???), I decided to create a set. Let's take a look:

I created these cards using the CTMH January Stamp of the Month: Beloved Bouquet and the Thousand Thanks stamp sets. (Oh, and by the way, I'm listing the supplies at the bottom of my posts this year...thought I'd try something new...)

I began by masking off the middle of the White Daisy cardstock layer and stamping the roses in Poppy ink. I then added a mask to the roses and then stamped the leaves in Fern ink. After removing all the masks, I stamped the sentiment in the middle of the card in Black Archival ink. I then layered the White Daisy cardstock to a strip of La Vie En Rose paper. I added a strip of Gold Foil tape next to the cardstock and then an 1/8-inch strip of Poppy cardstock next to the tape. I popped the whole thing up on craft foam and added some black epoxy dots from my stash.

Everything went along smoothly until the very last card. I messed up on the Thanks sentiment. After all that masking, I really didn't want to make a new card front, so I stamped the sentiment on a separate piece of White Daisy cardstock that I cut to fit the center of the card. I then added that to the card with dimensional adhesive, and voilĂ ! It looks like it was meant to be there:

Here are some close-ups:

And here is one more look at the set:

I hope you enjoyed this quick look at La Vie En Rose. This is a hugely versatile collection. You'll undoubtedly be seeing more of it throughout the month. Now for more inspiration, hop on over and see with the inestimable Lynn Darda has created for you at From My Bungalow.

Have a wonderfully creative day!

  2. These are beautiful, Kim! Love the classic color combo, and the flowers are wonderful. Really love how you masked the center for the sentiment. Such a great design that could be used so many ways. :)
