Rose Blossoms Blog Hop: A Little Blossom to Brighten Your Day

Hi All! Happy New Year and welcome to the first Rose Blossom Blog Hop for 2016! If you just hopped in from Shelly Nemitz' AMAZING blog, Just One Pretty Piece, you're in the right place. I have listed the links to all the participants at the end of this post.

Today we're featuring Close To My Heart's January 2016 Stamp of the Month: Beloved Bouquet.

This is a two-step stamp set that allows you to created depth by stamping the fill color for the roses and leaves and then overlaying it with the outline/shading of the image. The sentiments in this set are great for card making!

Speaking of which, let's take a look at today's project:

This is the time of year when we could all use a few thank you notes, so I decided to create a little 4 Bar notecard for a friend. I used the no-line technique to watercolor the roses and leaves. I stamped the outline images in Champagne ink and then watercolored them, using a light wash, and then adding darker shading when the wash was dry. While the images were drying, I stamped the sentiment from the A Thousand Thanks stamp set in VersaMark ink on vellum and heat embossed it in gold. After cutting out the smaller blossom, I added some gold thread to my card front and layered on the sentiment with dimensional adhesive. I then added the smaller blossom to the sentiment to hide the dimensional adhesive. Finally, I added some shimmer to the roses using iridescent medium. (Unfortunately, it's been so gray here, I couldn't pick up the shimmer with the camera.)

Here are some close ups:

And here's one more look at the card:

I hope you enjoyed this little card. If you haven't tried the no-line coloring technique, you should give it a go. It offers a lot of bang for the buck! (And what better time to try an new technique than at the turn of a New Year!) Now hop on over and see what the lovely and ΓΌber-creative Kristine has in store for you at Merry Heart Creations.

 And if you get lost along the way or just want to go back and review, here's a list of the blog hop participants to kick start your 2016 creative mojo:

Kim {that's me!}

Have a wonderfully creative day!

  6. WOW!!! I loved your sneak peek, but it's nothing compared to the real deal. In fact, I would so love to see this in real life because I could hold it and examine every inch. I have no idea what the no-line water color technique is but I definitely want to find out now. Gorgeous!!!!!

    1. So glad you liked it Shelly! "No-line" is simply where you stamp the image in a light color (I like champagne...the color...the beverage isn't bad either...), and then color over it. If you use a water based ink like our CTMH inks, then the stamping blends into the watercolor and it looks like you painted the whole thing from scratch. :D It's a good "cheat" to have in your arsenal when you want to do something quickly, but make it look like you spent hours on it. ;D
