Blessed are the Weird People

Hi All! Welcome to the mid-March Rose Blossom Blog Hop celebrating Close To My Heart's March Stampganza! If you've just hopped over from the über-creative Marg Van Patten's Tater Patch, you're in the right place. (As always, I'll have a list of hop participants at the end of the post.)

For the month of March, CTMH is running a special of buy 2 stamp sets and get a third free. So the Rose Blossoms decided to get together and inspire you with some of our favorite sets. Now I've got to be honest, picking my favorite stamp set is almost as impossible as picking my favorite color. I pretty much like them all and what I'm using is completely dependent on the project I have in mind. But since I HAVE to choose, I decided to showcase a page I did in my art journal about a month ago using the Friend in Me stamp set:
Let's take a look:

I love the whimsical flowers in this set, and the sentiments are perfect for cards. (I actually use it quite a bit.) So for this 8x8 page, I decided to do some no-line watercoloring. I stamped out the flowers in Champagne Ink, masking off as necessary to create a cluster border. I then painted the flowers with my CTMH watercolors, which are fairly opaque and perfect for this technique. I then used a white paint pen by Derwent to add some doodles to each of the flowers.

Finally, I drew in a heart using my black .03 micron and added some scallop doodles. I then colored it in and outlined it with some Gelatos by Faber-Castell. The sentiment is typed out with my vintage Olivetti on some old notebook paper and glued in place. I highlighted the edges of it with more Gelato.

Here's a look at some details:

And here's a close up of the sentiment (love it!):

And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this peek into my journal. Now, hop on over and see what the incredibly talented Morgan Vogt has for your inspiration at Tweetscraps! And if you get lost along the way or just want to review the hop again, here's a list of participants:

Have a wonderfully creative day!
