Rose Blossom Blog Hop: It's A (Beautiful) New Day!

Hi All! Welcome to the Rose Blossom mid-month Blog Hop featuring Close To My Heart's limited edition Live Your Day scrapbooking program. If you've just hopped over from Shelly's fabulous blog, Just One Pretty Piece, you are in the right place. I'll have a list of hop participants at the end of this post, along with a list of supplies used in this project.

Now, on with the show (& tell...)! Close To My Heart is celebrating National Papercrafting Month with a limited edition set of Picture My Life cards called Live Your Day. These cards are designed to be used in both planners and pocket scrapbooking layouts. I decided, however, that I wanted to use some of the cards as home decor pieces. And so we have today's project:

This Live Your Day card was originally all white detail on a light juniper back ground. I decided to step it up a bit by adding some water color to the flowers on the card. Though the camera didn't pick it up very well, I added a bit of shimmer to the flowers as well.

I then cut the 4x6 card down to fit in this white Ikea frame, and proceeded to alter the frame a bit. For a bit of bling, I added strips of Aqua Shimmer Trim to the frame, mitering the corners for a more finished, professional look. Then I stamped the butterfly images from the Your Beautiful Self stamp set on the light gypsy journaling cards in Whisper ink and fussy cut them. I added Gun Smoke Stickles to their bodies and antennae for some extra pop. While the butterflies were drying, I stamped the sentiment (from the same stamp set) on one of the 4x6 cards in Whisper ink and trimmed it down to fit. I then added some loops of seam binding ribbon and began to adhere the butterflies to the frame, popping some up with foam tape for dimensional interest. I added the sentiment using a stick pin and some foam tape.

Here's a collage of close-ups:

And here's the frame, one more time:

I hope you enjoyed my Live Your Day project. Don't forget, these cards are only available through the month of January. Now, for more inspiration, hop on over and see what the super talented Morgan has in store for you at TweetScraps.

And here's a list of hop participants in case you get lost along the way:

Have a wonderfully creative day!

  6. What a gorgeous home decor frame, Kim! I love that you used one of those cards as the focal point of your frame. Such a clever different way to use those cards. And love how you added color to the flowers, too. And wow on all those fussy cut butterflies. They are awesome!
