Playin' Along with The Paper Players

So life is finally getting into a little more of a routine, which allows me to participate in some of my favorite challenges. One of those is a blog by The Paper Players.

Here is this week's sketch:

Here's my take on it:

This sketch is great for washi tape fans (of which I am one), but I wanted to use my CTMH supplies. No washi. So what to do?? Get out the "It's Your Day" stamp set, of course! (Remember kids: this DOUBLE stamp set is only available for 3 MORE DAYS!!!) So I used It's Your Day and stamped my washi-like banners in Goldrush, Smokey Plum and Olive Exclusive Inks on Colonial white cardstock. I think they came out fantastic!

The owl, greeting and spiderweb are all from the Spellbound Workshop On The Go stamp set. This workshop is SO much fun! I'll post the goodie I make from it soon. The owl was stamped in Smokey Plum and the greeting is in Autumn Terracotta. The spiderwebs are in Whisper pigment ink. Awesome on black!

Here are some close-ups of the outside:

I almost never do much to the interior of my cards (mainly because I like space to write), but I couldn't help myself on this one!

The spider and webs are stamped in Black Exclusive Ink. I drew a little thread for my spider with an art pen. The sentiment (except for "BOO") is from the Card Word Puzzle stamp set (Yep, it's a go-to set for me), and is stamped in Smokey Plum. "BOO"is stamped in black over a scrap of the Goldrush washi-like banner using the Vintage Type stamp set and popped up with some foam tape.

Here is a close-up of the interior:

This was such a fun card to make! Hope you enjoyed it!

Let Me Show You How....

That's the motto of Close To My Heart. In that spirit, CTMH Home Office has begun a series on My Craft Channel called "Clearly the Best." It's all about different ways to use our My Acrylix® stamp sets. I wanted to share the latest video here.

This is such a fun way to stamp! If you want further instruction on stamping techniques and getting the most out of CTMH's My Acrylix® stamp sets, just let me know. I'll will be happy to show you how!

A Little Weekend Mojo

Are you ready for the long weekend? Have some crafty plans? Just thought I'd throw out a little inspiration for the weekend while I played along with the Mojo Monday challenge:

Here are a couple of cards I did based on the square pattern:

I'll give you the particulars for the "Pocket Full of Smiles" card here. If you would like to see "You Make Me Smile" up close and read about it, please visit me at The Feast.

For this 4x4-inch card, I used kraft cardstock for my base and the Dakota B&T paper pack for the rest.

For the front, I cut barn red cardstock to 3 3/4-inch square, and did tone-on-tone stamping with a flourish from the Baroque Boarders August Stamp Of The Month set in Barn Red exclusive ink. The flags are cut from the Dakota papers and embellished with a pearl badge button from the Wrangler assortment pack.

The pocket was stamped using the Rugged Dude my acrylix stamp set. To make the pocket, I first did a 4th generation reverse stamp on white daisy cardstock using Outdoor Denim exclusive ink. I then flipped the stamp to the "right" side and stamped a second generation stamp in the same blue. The stitching is a first generation stamp in Chocolate exclusive ink. I used little antiqued gold brads from the Metals assortment for the rivets on the pocket, cut it out and popped it up with foam adhesive. Here's a close up:

I tucked a little tag inside the pocket for some fun. The tag is cut from Dakota paper and kraft cardstock and measures 2x7/8-inches overall. I used a little Burlap ribbon for the pull, and stamped the sentiment (which is from one of the exclusive Cricut Artiste collection stamp sets) in Barn Red exclusive ink. I added some tiny staples for added interest.

For the "smile" sentiment, I again layered Dakota paper and kraft cardstock and added a little Burlap fringe on the back. "Smile" is from the "It's Your Day"set that has been released to celebrate National Stamping Month (which starts tomorrow!). This double stamp set is available for $5 with any $35 purchase. I added tiny staples again for some fun. (I don't have the tiny attacher, by the way. I used a funky little pocket stapler that my dad gave me. I'll post pictures of it soon!)

Hope you enjoyed a little mojo to head into the weekend! Have a fantastic and safe Labor Day!
