Sew….take a look at today's project:
We'll start off with the ingredients list for this "sew special" card:
Red embroidery thread & needle (from my stash)
CTMH Artiste Cricut Cartridge (optional)
To make this card, I cut a base from Sky Cardstock at 4 1/4 x 11 inches, and scored and folded it at 5 1/2 inches. I then layered a 4x5 1/4-inch piece of Cranberry Cardstock on top. The sentiment is stamped in Cranberry Exclusive Ink onto a 3 1/5 x 4 3/4-inch layer of Colonial White Cardstock, which was scalloped at the bottom using the Scallop Border Punch. The hearts and "SEW special" sentiment were stamped in Sky Exclusive Ink. I then used a piercing tool to pierce the paper where I wanted to add stitches. I used a needle and red thread to sew onto the cardstock. I fussy cut around the hearts and layered them to the card with dimensional adhesive. For the cross stitched heart, I used liquid glass as to adhere it to the heart beneath it because my dimensional adhesive wouldn't stick to the thread very well. (You could use your Cricut machine and the Artiste Cartridge to cut out the hearts before you stamp and stitch. Unfortunately, my Cricut was on the fritz when I made this, so I was left to fussy cut.) The "Sew special" sentiment was cut down to 2 1/8x2 7/8 inches and layered on Sky Cardstock with dimensional adhesive. I added it to the card front using dimensional adhesive as well. I inked around the edges of the hearts and the Colonial White card front with Sky Exclusive Ink to add some contrast and depth to the project.
