Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share Day 2: Sew Special

Hi All! Welcome to Day 2 of the Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share for January. Our theme this month: Sew Special. This is the perfect theme to showcase Close To My Heart's January Stamp of The Month: Cross Stitch Wishes:

Sew….take a look at today's project:

We'll start off with the ingredients list for this "sew special" card:
Red embroidery thread & needle (from my stash)

To make this card, I cut a base from Sky Cardstock at 4 1/4 x 11 inches, and scored and folded it at 5 1/2 inches. I then layered a 4x5 1/4-inch piece of Cranberry Cardstock on top. The sentiment is stamped in Cranberry Exclusive Ink onto a 3 1/5 x 4 3/4-inch layer of Colonial White Cardstock, which was scalloped at the bottom using the Scallop Border Punch. The hearts and "SEW special" sentiment were stamped in Sky Exclusive Ink. I then used a piercing tool to pierce the paper where I wanted to add stitches. I used a needle and red thread to sew onto the cardstock. I fussy cut around the hearts and layered them to the card with dimensional adhesive. For the cross stitched heart, I used liquid glass as to adhere it to the heart beneath it because my dimensional adhesive wouldn't stick to the thread very well.  (You could use your Cricut machine and the Artiste Cartridge to cut out the hearts before you stamp and stitch. Unfortunately, my Cricut was on the fritz when I made this, so I was left to fussy cut.) The "Sew special" sentiment was cut down to 2 1/8x2 7/8 inches and layered on Sky Cardstock with dimensional adhesive. I added it to the card front using dimensional adhesive as well. I inked around the edges of the hearts and the Colonial White card front with Sky Exclusive Ink to add some contrast and depth to the project.

Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share Day 1: My Rosy Little Valentine

Celebrating Close To My Heart's January Stamp Of The Month:
Happy Valentine's Day

Hi Friends! Welcome to Day 1 of our Kraft-y Hearts blog share. If you haven't visited her yet, you will definitely want to hop over and see what the super-talented Lynn has whipped up at From My Bungalow.

My first project is a Valentine's Day card using the triple-layer stamping technique. (You can find tutorials on this simple technique all over the blogosphere. I think it's a great technique when you're looking for something that will give you lots of bang for your buck!)

The card base and cardstock layers were made with Hollyhock cardstock. The stamped layers are White Daisy cardstock. I actually combined a couple techniques here. In addition to triple-layer stamping, I used generational stamping to achieve a multi hue look. All of the roses, however, are stamped in Hollyhock Exclusive Ink. The lighter roses are second generation stamps (that is, the second impression made with the stamp before re-inking it). The sentiment is stamped in Ruby Exclusive Ink on White Daisy cardstock and layered on Hollyhock. I popped it up using dimensional adhesive, rounded the corners with a scalloped corner rounder and added some Hollyhock sparkles from the Red, Pink and Purple Sparkles assortment. A little Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon adds an extra flourish.

Here's a close-up:

I hope you enjoyed my rosy little valentine. Don't forget, the January Stamp Of The Month: Happy Valentine's Day can be purchased for just $5.00 with a qualifying purchase of $50 or more. Or, if you'd rather purchase it alone, it can be yours for just $17.95. (A great deal either way!)

Don't forget to visit Lynn Darda at From My Bungalow to be inspired by her kraft-y goodness!

See you tomorrow!
