Artbooking in August Blog Hop: Day 4 of the Fun

Hi All! Welcome to the 4th and final day/week of Artbooking in August! The kids started back to school today so summer is unofficially over. It's been a good one.

I thought that it might be nice to end this fantabulous series with a little altered project that could be used at school or home. So let's take a look:

A few months ago, my local office supply store ran a sale on clipboards. Never one to pass up a good deal, I stocked up. However, I don't like boring supplies. They're just uninspiring. So I started to give this one a face lift with a little Dream Pop paper. I set it aside to dry and, as happens in my craft room, I didn't get back to it until now. I decided to add some pockets to this one to give it even more versatility. That's where Artbooking came in. 

The long pocket is from the baby layout on page 51. (I left the size at 8 inches and it was perfect.) The folder-style pocket is also from a baby layout on page 50 and was cut on the same setting. I wanted the back of the paper to show, so I folded the tab down. "Notes" (p. 43) is cut at 3/4 inch with the "real dial size" on. "Big ideas" (p. 42) is cut at 1 1/4 inches also with the "real dial size" on. The arrows and "My Life" speech bubble were cut to match the measurements on the Artbooking Collections stamp set I used. The yellow speech bubble is cut 1/4 of an inch larger than the stamp. I also added a couple of Aqua Dots to the pockets for fun. The one on the long pocket hides a magnet. 

To make covering the clipboard easy, I added a strip of Dream Pop paper that I edged with the new scallop punch and then finished it off with Lagoon houndstooth washi tape. Here are some close-ups:

Artbooking in August Blog Hop: Day 3 of the Fun

Hi All! Can you believe we're already at Week 3 of our Artbooking in August hop?! Me either! Summer isn't so much winding down in the Hill household as it is coming to a screeching halt. We're off hiking this week and the kids start back to school next week. Whew! Where did the time go?

This week I wanted to share a mini album I created with Artbooking, Laughing Lola, and my sewing machine. The inspiration for this project came from a little book we put together at the CTMH convention and a desire to figure out how to use my machine with paper. :) (Kismet if there ever was, I tell ya!)

I went a little crazy with the number of pages. (There are so many great cuts on Artbooking, it's hard to choose.) So instead of individual picture, I created collages. I'll highlight a few things as we go along.

This first collage gives you a look at the front and back covers and the stitched binding. I added in a folder made of glitter paper and some black glitter paper on the spine (edged with the new scallop punch), but otherwise all of the pages are from the Laughing Lola Paper pack. The spiffy leopard print trim is from a zip strip in the paper pack.

The outside of the book is made from the pocket folder on page XXXXX. I used various photo mats (including the tag mat on page XXXXX) as off-set pages. I also added pockets and bands to the pages to hold other photo mats.

For a little added extra, I used some of the chipboard elements from the Laughing Lola Compliments. I used Twilight Exclusive ink (with an occasional pop of Gypsy) and the Paisley Perfect, Love This and Artbooking collection stamp sets throughout the album.

Artbooking in August Blog Hop: Day 1 of the Fun

Nearly 40 talented Close To My Heart Consultants have conspired to inspire you to get creative with CTMH's new Artbooking Cricut Cartridge. We consultants were challenged to make 4 projects for the month including a scrapbook layout, a card, a mini album, and a home decor or gift piece all with the Artbooking cartridge. I thought I'd start out the month with a little card that I made for my husband. With all its different icons and phrases, Artbooking is great for cards! Check it out:

For this fun little 4x4-inch easel card, I used Close To My Heart's new Pro Player collection. (That's right, it's not just for teen video game geeks!) I used Black and Outdoor Denim cardstocks as accents.  The hearts are an overlay that I sized at 5 1/4 inches. The people icon was sized at 1 1/2 inches using real dial size. For the heart speech bubble, I adhered the center heart to the card and then popped the bubble up around it with dimensional adhesive. I used a little white gel pen for accent. The arrow is  from the new "All the Details" stamp set. (This is one versatile little set. I find myself using it all the time!)
