Artbooking in August Blog Hop: Day 2 of the Fun

Hi All! Inspired by what you saw last week? Just wait 'til you see what's in store for this week as Artbooking in August continues.

If you just hopped over from Krista's Crafty Corner (blogging home of the super talented Krista Herschberger),  you're in the right place. If you're just joining the hop now and want to go back to the beginning (you don't want to miss ANY of the inspiration!), go on over and visit Adeline Brill's Creative Space for the whole list of participant blogs.

So today I decided to share a wee layout that I made to include in one of the new Close To My Heart My Crush Books that I did for a recent trip to Vermont. (I'll do a whole separate post on the book a little later this month.) The lay out is double sided so that it slides perfectly into the CTMH 6x6 Flip Flaps. (These little Flip Flaps can increase your photo real estate by a lot on any layout!) Here's a look at side one:

Again, this is a 6x6-inch layout. The great thing about Artbooking if you're doing layouts, is that it figures out all the proportions for you.  I used the Bluebird My Crush Book, which looks great with the Twilight cardstock I used for the base of these pages. I added Whisper cardstock to tie in the other colors. I mixed in elements from the Memories and Favorites assortments that are designed to go with this album. The doily is from Artbooking and the patterned paper is from Pro Player. (That's a seriously versatile paper pack!) The stamps (including the arrows around the edge of the frame) are from All the Details, Sightseer, and the Artbooking collection. I used Olive, Smokey Plum and Twilight Exclusive inks for stamping and inking around the edges of some of the elements. Here are some close-ups of side one:

(See the scalloped edge on the Whisper cardstock? That's from the new CTMH Scallop Border punch!)

And now for side two:

Because these are going in Flip Flaps that will be flipped up, I had to make sure the back sides of the layout were upside down. (You could put the Flip Flaps in so that they flip left/right, which would eliminate the need to make sure side two was upside down, but I didn't think of that until it was too late.) Since I wanted a half-inch border around my page, I cut the overlay from Whisper cardstock at 5 inches instead of 6 inches. The journaling element,"smile," and Date stamps are from the Artbooking collection. I cut the element at the size indicated on the stamp. The LOL spot and little tab are from the Memories assortment. The film strip element on page two is cut from Whisper cardstock at 8 inches (6 inches made it too small to fit decent sized pictures). The camera and "click" stamps are from the Sightseer stamp set. I used Olive, Smokey Plum and Twilight Exclusive inks on these pages as well. Here are some close-ups of side two:

Here are some pictures of the layouts in the My Crush Book:

Artbooking makes doing any size layout a breeze. Now, for more inspiration, hop on over to Scrappin' in Paradise and see what the talented Carol Horton has in store for you. And don't forget to stop by next week for Week 3 of Artbooking in August!

Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share Day 2: Mix Well....

Hi Gang! Welcome to Day 2 of the Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share for July. Today Lynn, Jody, and I will be mixing and matching some current products with a few new products that will be available with the new Idea Book launch on August 1st. (I LOVE sneak peeks!)

As promised yesterday, today's project is the box that holds our note card set.

Using Kraft cardstock and the Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge, I cut the box at 3 1/2 inches. I then cut a 2nd box using paper from the brand-spankin'-new Huntington collection. (Oh the Kraft-y goodness this paper brings!) I cut the sides and bottom off the second box and used it to layer on the inside of the Kraft box. To decorate the outside, I cut strips of Dakota and Huntington papers and edged them with the new CTMH scalloped edge punch. I layered them on the outside of the box and added some new Ruby Shimmer Trim [insert happy dance here] for some fantastic bling! I used a little more Huntington to create a rosette and popped a little watercolored apple from The Sweet Life stamp set on top. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I stamped it in Outdoor Denim Exclusive Ink on Champagne cardstock, cut pennants in the end and adhered it to the box. I also inked around the edges of the box with a little Outdoor Denim to add some depth. I then used some ultra thin magnets as a closure.

Here are some close-ups:

See how well the products mix together? LOVE that! Don't forget to hop over and see what inspiring goodies Lynn and Jody have created for today.

Tune in tomorrow and see "Nuthin' but New!"
