A Sweet Stop-Inspired Sneak Peek

Hi All! So I was surfing the net for a little inspiration that might properly showcase this next collection. To my delight, I came upon The Sweet Stop challenge blog. They have some fun sketches over there, so you'll definitely want to put them on your inspire-me list.

Here's the sketch I used:

Here's my take:

Okay, this is a FANTASTIC collection called Claire. As the mom of an almost-12 year-old girl, this collection is going to be a go-to one for me. This simple card is layered on a White Daisy base. The sentiment is also a sneak peek. It's from a new stamp set called Scrapbook Statements--Women. It's stamped on White Daisy cardstock in Hollyhock Exclusive Ink. I used a fancy corner punch to give the sentiment a little flair and popped it up with dimensional adhesive. A little Color-Ready Seam Binding bow and three Pearl Opaque Gems add just the right level of bling, don't you think?

Here are a couple of close-ups:

Don't you just love the sentiment!

Hope you enjoyed a peek at Claire! (Remember, it will be available February 1st.) Have a Happy Monday!

Freshly Made Sneak Peek...

Hi All! Are you enjoying your sneak peeks? I hope so!
Here's another peek that was inspired by the challenge over on Freshly Made Sketches. I enjoy clean and simple sketches like this one:

Here's my take on the sketch:

The A2 card base is White Daisy cardstock, layered with a 5 1/4 x 4-inch piece of Lagoon cardstock. The paper collection is called For Always, and will be available in the new spring idea book that is being released on February 1st. This black and white collection is great for everything from Valentines to Weddings, to everyday life. I used Ruby Exclusive Ink for the sentiment, which is from the For Always Workshop On The Go, and to ink around the edges of the paper. I also sanded down the patterned paper to make the sentiment more legible. The hearts were made with a punch, but either of the Cricut cartridges--Art Philosophy or Artiste--could cut them for you in no time. I added white dots to the black and whisper doily heart with a gel pin. A little Color-Ready Seam Binding (to which I never seem to add color!) adds just the right texture.

Here are a couple of close-ups:

Hope you enjoyed the Freshly-inspired sneak peek. Have a peaceful Sunday!

A Little Weekend Mojo (AND a Sneak Peek!)

Hi All! The sun is finally shining here in the nations capital city. WOO HOO! (It's a bit on the chilly side though. Still, if I have to choose, I'll take sunny and cold over constant mist any day!)

I thought I'd share a little card I did to play along with Mojo Monday. It will also give you a little peek at the new Buzz & Bumble line by Close To My Heart.

Here's the Mojo Sketch:

And here's my take using the Buzz & Bumble line (available February 1st).

The card base is made from Kraft cardstock. The layer is Champagne cardstock with Buzz & Bumble patterned papers. The sentiment, flowers, and seed packet are from the Buzz & Bumble Workshop On The Go stamp set. I stamped the sentiment on patterned paper using Cocoa Exclusive Ink and punched it out using one of my many punches. [If you don't have this shape, however, or want to do a bunch of cards at once, you could use the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge (shape 8 on page 47) or any number of shapes on the Cricut Artiste cartridge.] The flowers and seed packet are stamped on White Daisy cardstock in brown Stāz-On ink and are fussy cut. I sponged the flowers with Sunset and Crème Brûlée Exclusive Inks, and used the Autumn Terracotta marker for the middle of the small flower. The seed packet is colored with Sunset, Sweet Leaf, GoldrushCrème Brûlée and Autumn Terracotta Exclusive Inks using my water brush. After everything was dry, I sponged the background in Crème Brûlée. To tie it all together, I sponged the edges of all the elements with Cocoa Exclusive Ink and added a little Color-Ready Seam Binding and white crochet thread (from my stash). A couple of small strips of Burlap Ribbon adds a little extra fun and texture.

Here are some close ups:

Since there's quite a bit of Cocoa Ink involved in this card, I'm also linking it to the Heart 2 Heart challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoyed this little Mojo-inspired sneak peek! More peeks to come!
