Tuesday Treats: Little Nuggets of Love

Hi All! Welcome to another Tuesday Treats. We're in full Valentine mode here at the Hill house. I'm actually creating a little faster than I can blog, so be ready for a little Happy Heart Day celebrating throughout the month of February.

I wanted to share a little treat box today that actually folds flat and can really be used for any occasion.

For this box, I used a piece of polka dot kraft cardstock from Close To My Heart's Rustic Home Fundamentals paper collection cut to 6 1/4 x 8 1/2 inches. I used the same paper for the heart tag and cut it with the small heart from the Thin Cuts Basic Heart die set. The red heart was cut from the Cranberry Hearts paper in the Adventures Fundamentals paper pack using the extra small heart die from the same set. I popped the smaller heart on the larger with foam tape and added the XOXO sentiment from the CTMH Operation Smile: True Love stamp set in Cranberry in on White Daisy cardstock. I tied the tag on to the box and tied the box shut with a bit of bakers twine from my stash.

Here are a couple of close ups:

And here's a look inside the box:

I managed to get 6 Hershey Nuggets into this wee little box! To add a little extra somethin' to the package, I wrapped each nugget with a band of matching pattern paper that was cut to 1 x 3 inches.

Here's a look at the box folded for storage:

It really does fold completely flat, so you could make a bunch of these ahead of time and then decorate them in whatever the occasion calls for! The polkadots are festive, but certainly neutral enough to use any time of the year.

And here's one more look at the package ready for giving:

The final dimensions of the box (in inches) are: 2(w) x 2(l) x 1 1/4(h). It could hold all kinds of things, really.

So I hope you've enjoyed my little box. I'll get a tutorial together for it soon! In the meantime, have a wonderfully creative week!

Operation Smile: Punny Bear!

Hi All! I wanted to share a little note card I made from a Copic coloring project I did during #thedailymarker30day coloring challenge. Let's take a look:

To showcase this little coloring piece, I created this card from white Neena Exact Index cardstock and layered it with some scraps of retired Fundamentals papers in Pacifica Blue. The image is from the Animal Greetings stamp set that Close To My Heart created to benefit Operation Smile. This is chock full of cute little animals and fabulous puns.

I stamped this little bear on a 2 3/4-inch square piece of White Daisy cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The heart is from a retired stamp set. I then colored the images with my Copic markers, using E30 & E33 for his stomach and snout and E23 & E33, with just a hint of E18, for the rest of his fur. I added a touch of R21 to his cheeks and Black 100 for his nose. The hearts are colored in R08 & R27, with a little Shimmer Pen for pizzazz.  I used C3, C5 & C7 for the ground and B0000 along my my colorless blender for the sky. I added highlight to his nose and the ground using my white Signo gel pen. After the white ink dried, I stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black and popped the whole thing up with foam tape.

Here's a close-up of the coloring:

And here's a look at the stamp set:

Close To My Heart donates $7 to Operation Smile for every one of these sets sold.

Until next time, have a wonderfully creative day!

#True Love: A Little Weekend Mojo

Hi All! It's been forever since I played along with Mojo Monday, so I thought it was about time to get going again. I decided I'd pair this challenge up with the new True Love Operation Smile stamp set that Close To My Heart released to the public yesterday. Here's the set:

I love coloring these little kids! And the sentiments are so much fun, too! I think you'll be seeing a lot of projects featuring this set in the future. (And not only is it a fantastic set, Close To My Heart donates a portion of all the proceeds from this set to Operation Smile. So it's a win no matter what!)

Now on with the project. Here's Mojo Monday Sketch 459:

And here's my take on it:

So let's start with the card itself, which is cut from black cardstock at 4 1/4 x 11 inches and scored at 5 1/2 inches. The three paper panels are cut at 1 1/4 x 5 1/4 inches. I used paper from the Florence paper pack by Close To My Heart. (This gorgeous collection retires at the end of August, so grab it while you can!) The sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a scrap of paper from the new CTMH Memo Fundamentals paper pack. The Love cameo is from the CTMH Snowhaven Assortment pack, which is currently on clearance!

Here's a close up of the sentiment:

Now let's talk about the focal piece. The girl is stamped in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah Solar White 110 pound cardstock. I chose the heavier cardstock because I knew I would be using a lot of color and didn't want to saturate the cardstock too quickly. I cut the little girl out of the cardstock before coloring her using the Stitched Rectangles Dies by Tim Holtz and Sizzix.

Here's a list of the Copic colors I used for coloring the girl and the background:

Skin: E0000, E00, E21, R21
Hair: YR24, E15, E17
Dress: B23, B37
Heart: R32, RV11, R83 (I also added some shimmer pen)
Grass: YG0000, YG03, YG06
Sky:  BG000, 0 (colorless blender)

After I mounted the piece to the card front, I added Liquid Glass to the heart to emphasize it even more. I then popped the sentiment and Love cameo up over the rectangle using foam tape.

Here's one more look at the front:

I hope you enjoyed this little bit of Friday Mojo!

Have a wonderfully creative weekend!
