A Little More Mojo

Hi all! As promised, here is the second card I made using Mojo Monday inspiration and the Chalk It Up Picture My Life cards.

Here is the sketch again:

And here is my card:

To change it up a little, I cut the base of this card so that it would open vertically. The base is Kraft Cardstock. For the first layer, I pieced 2 of the Picture My Life cards together, and covered the seam with a little Black Striped Twill Ribbon. I then cut the tag from a 4x6 card, punched a hole at the top and added some Slate Diagonal Striped Ribbon and a little Bakers Twine. The "Awesome" sentiment was cut from a 3x4 card. I edged all the layers with Black Exlusive Ink to make them pop just a little. I then adhered them all using thin foam tape. (This is my new go-to for dimensional adhesive. Love it!) I added 3 Black Epoxy Bubbles for a little bling, and voilĂ : another sweet back-to-school note of encouragement! (And this card required no stamping at all!)

Here are a couple of close-ups:

And one more look at the card:

Hope you enjoyed it! Have a fabulous weekend!

Chalk it up to mojo....

Hi all! So the kids start back to school next week, and for the first time, I think I'm looking forward to it more than they are. Oh well, that's to be expected with teens I suppose.
Anyway, I decided to play along with the Mojo Monday sketch this week and make a couple of cards for them to start their year off with. I'll post the second card tomorrow.
Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it:
The card is a standard A2 base cut from Kraft Cardstock. The background paper is a 4x6 Picture My Life card from the Chalk It Up collection that I cut down to size and layered on White Daisy Cardstock. I added Kraft Cardstock to break up the pattern a bit. The black chalkboard layer is a 3x4 card I cut to fit and the "you are truly awesome" card is from the same collection. I added the "FYI" and arrow using the Hopscotch alphabet stamp set and Black Exclusive ink. You'll notice that the Hopscotch set doesn't actually come with an arrow, but therein lies one of the beauties of acrylic stamps. I used the lowercase "L" and bent it slightly to make the shaft of the arrow. I then used the lowercase "V" for the point. Pretty cool!
I embellished the card with the new Black Striped Twill Ribbon and Black Epoxy Bubbles. And that's it! Pretty easy!
Here are some close-ups:
And here is the card one more time:
Hope you enjoyed a look at Chalk It Up and Picture My Life. Tune in tomorrow to see the second card inspired by Mojo Monday and the Picture My Life Chalk It a Up collection.

What a hoot!

Hi folks! Just wanted to share a little slider swap card I made using Close To My Heart's August Stamp Of The Month: What A Hoot, and featuring the new Whimsy colors: Pixie, Canary, Flaxen, Glacier, and Thistle.

For this card, I used Glacier cardstock, patterned paper from the Paper Fundamentals Whimsy Assortment, and White Daisy cardstock for the front and slider.

The owl is stamped in Flaxen Exclusive Ink, with Thistle wings. Her eyes are Glacier, the flowers are Pixie and the crown is Canary. The wings and crown are fussy cut and attached with glue dots. The slider pull is made from the new Slate Diagonal Striped Ribbon and attached using the new Mini Stapler.

Here is a of close-up:

Here is the inside sentiment in Glacier Exclusive Ink:

And here is the lot that I made for the swap:

Love the new colors, don't you? Hope you enjoyed the slider!

Rose Blossom Blog Hop: 'Cuz We Need a Little Christmas

Hi All! Welcome to the Rose Blossom Legacies Blog Hop celebrating the release of the new Close To My Heart idea book! If you just hopped over from the oh-so-talented Lynn Darda's blog, you're in the right place. If you're just starting the hop with me, you can find a list of participants below, or just hop on over to Rose Blossom Legacies and you can start from the beginning.

For today's project, I decided to get a jump on Christmas and make a little album to document the holidays. Let's take a look...

The base of this album is the 5x7-inch Designer Creations Shortstack album. I decorated the cover using elements from the Yuletide Carol Assortment and Complements packs, as well as the My Crush Holiday Assortment. The sentiment is from the new Merry, Merry stamp set. The wreath is stamped in New England Ivy Exclusive Ink using the second generation method (the image is stamped on a scrap piece of paper and then stamped on the card without re-inking). "Peace and Love" is stamped in Ruby Exclusive Ink. I used our new Cranberry Striped Twill Ribbon to close the album. Here are some close-ups:

The pages in this album are 5x7-inch sheets of Kraft Cardstock. (Woot woot!!) I decided I wanted to make a few of the pages interactive, so I added flaps of Kraft cut at 4 1/2x6 1/2 inches, scored horizontally at 4 inches. Here's an example:

Notice on the front of the page, I used a sticker from the Yuletide Carol Complements to create a tension point that would allow me to stash a journaling card. I did the same thing on the inside using a zip strip from the paper collection and another journaling card.

For added interest, I made some of the pages open toward the bottom of the album, like this:

The pocket on the front of the page is an envelope from the My Crush Holiday Assortment. On the inside page, I did not adhere the Merry Christmas flags down entirely so that I could easily slip a picture in underneath them later. Here's a look at the flags and the tag from the front of the page:

Finally, I used Designer Creations Ruby Bags to create pockets on some of the pages that hold large tags.

There's a lot more to this book, but I think that gives you a pretty good taste of the project. Did you notice the mini staples and gold shimmer trim? Aren't they fantastic? You'll find them both in the new idea book as well.

I hope you enjoyed a little Christmas in August. Now hop on over and see what the talented Shelly Nemitz has for your inspiration. If you are just joining us or are lost, here's a list of participants:
