Kraft-y Hello

Hi All! Welcome to the Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share featuring Close To My Heart's June Stamp Of The Month: Hello Foxy. Check it out:

Isn't this a cute set? I love the fonts used in the sentiments, and the little fox sitting down is one of my all time favorite images. So let's take a look at the project for today:

To create this little card set, I used a long-since-retired card making kit by Close To My Heart, which included the card bases and matching envelopes, the kraft cardstock and glitter banners, and a black banner that I trimmed down to fit my sentiment.

I began the cards by stamping the wreath images onto vellum with VersaMark ink and heat embossing them in white. I then colored the backs of the images using my ShinHan Touch alcohol markers and cut them out. I stamped the fox and flower images directly onto the card bases using White Daisy ink and then colored them with my Prismacolor pencils. I wanted the white ink to stand out a little more, so I went back over the image outlines with my white Gelly Roll pen. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on the black banners that were included in the kit, and then cut them down to fit into the center of the wreath.

To put the card together, I layered the banners on top of each other and adhered them to the card base with my tape runner. I then added the wreaths to the banners using Matte Medium by Ranger. Finally, I popped the sentiments in place with foam tape.

Here is a collage of close-ups:

And here's a look at one of the cards and its matching envelope:

I hope you enjoyed this little set. Don't forget to stop by From My Bungalow and see what the amazingly talented Lynn Darda has in store for your inspiration.

No Better Time To Be Thankful

Hi All! So last month, I purchased Simon Says Stamp's November Kit of The Month. I finally got a chance to play with it over the weekend and thought I'd share what I made, starting with my 15 (FIFTEEN!!!) 4-Bar (3-1/2 x 5 inches) cards.

Let's take a look:

The kit came with Simon Says Stamp's Thankful Heart stamp set, a mini cube of copper Delicata Ink,  twelve 6 x 6 inch sheets of patterned paper by Echo Park, 4 sheets of 8-1/2 x 11 inch cardstock in blue, green, red, and cream, one copper pearlized envelope and one orange pearlized envelope, a bottle of gold Stickles, the Floral Frenzy embossing folder and a cute little daisy metal paper clip. The kits are sold out, but I'll have links below to the components I used in this project.

I created the card bases from white, index-weight cardstock by Neenah and then layered them with blue, green or red cardstocks from the kit. I then used my MISTI to stamp the greeting on Close To My Heart's White Daisy cardstock using Autumn Terracotta Ink (which was retired a while back, but matches the orange in the paper quite well). I layered the greeting onto patterned paper and added a strip of Rose Gold Foil Tape for a bit of bling. I then added that layer to the card base. I stamped "for everything" on scraps of coordinating cardstock in VersaMark ink and then heat embossed it with Rangers Super Fine Detailed White embossing powder. I flagged one end of the greeting and then popped it up on the card using foam tape. And boom! 15 cards start to finish in about an hour!

Here's a look at examples of the green and red cards:

You'll notice on the red card above that I didn't use the Rose Gold Foil Tape. The tape covered too much of that particular pattern, which I think it holds its own pretty well anyway.

Here's a quick look at each of the color groupings:

Though the 4-Bar size is small, it can still be sent through regular mail. I really enjoying working with this size because it allows me to stretch my supplies as well.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed these little cards! Stay tuned for more projects made with this versatile kit.

Until next time, have a wonderfully creative day!

Friday Focus: Calypso

Hi All! Welcome to the Friday Focus Kraft-y Hearts Blog Share. Today we're taking a look at the beautiful Calypso collection. Perfect for all your summer layouts, cards and crafting projects, Calypso features bright summer colors with fun-in-the-sun images.

For today's project, I decided to play with the Calypso Workshop Your Way, which includes everything you need to create three 2-page 12x12 layouts, 2 cut-apart pages to create a pocket scrapbooking layout, and enough supplies to create 9 cards.

Let's take a look at the layouts. These were created according to the suggested instructions in the free PDF download.

Next up, let's take a look at the cards. I used the suggested layouts, but changed up the stamps. The PDF uses the One In A Melon stamp set, which showcases summer fruits and funny sayings. I actually don't have that set, so I created the cards using the Beyond Awesome, Tickled Pink, and Hawaiian Hibiscus stamp sets.

The cards above features the Beyond Awesome stamp set. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink for the "You Are..." flag and Cotton Candy and Canary inks for the sentiments.

For this second style, I used the Tickled Pink stamp set. The cute little flamingo is stamped in Pixie and Cotton Candy inks. I used Whisper for the legs and Canary for the beak. The sentiment is stamped in Tuxedo Black ink.

Finally, I used the Hawaiian Hibiscus stamp set on this third card style. I stamped the images in Champagne ink and used my Prismacolor colored pencils to do a little no-line coloring. Let's take a look.

I colored the above flower a little brighter than I had intended and it really didn't go with the pink in the flamingos that are on the front of this paper. So I flipped the paper over to the pineapple side and added a strip of Canary cardstock instead of the flamingo washi tape. I fussy cut the hibiscus and popped it up with foam tape. It took a while to fussy cut the image, so for the next two cards, I stamped the image directly on the White Daisy cardstock:

Again, I stamped the images in Champagne ink. This time, I colored the flowers with lighter shades of pinks and yellows, which match the pink in the flamingos much better. I stamped "Mahalo" on each card using Tuxedo Black ink.

Here are some close-ups of the flowers:

And there you have it! A look at the Calypso collection. You'll be seeing a lot more of it throughout the summer! In the meantime, hop on over and see what inspiring project my über-talented friend Lynn Darda has for you at From My Bungalow.

Have a wonderfully creative weekend!
