Hello, Baby! (part 3)

Hi All! Welcome to part 3 of the Hello, Baby! album tour. Today we will look at the last three pages of the album, starting with the back of page 3 and front of page 4:

I tried to keep the journalling cards readily accessible so that Mom and Dad could write down Baby's firsts without too much trouble. I did hide a card behind some of the flip flaps, but I don't think it will be too difficult to get to.

Here's a look at the back of page 4 and front of page 5:

One of the things I really like about Georgie is the pink accents. Even though this is a relatively gender neutral paper pack, the pops of pink are perfect for a baby girl album.

Here's a look at the back of page 5 and front of page 6:

I tried to be a little creative with matting the pages, without having to reinvent the wheel each time. For the backs of the pages, I aded a couple of rectangles of pattern paper instead of a full page mat both to add visual interest and to use up scraps.

Here's a look at the back of page 6:

Obviously we're playing with a lot of different patterned papers in this album. Still, I was able to maintain unity in the design by using the same structure for each page and keeping the base pages the same two colors of cardstock throughout the album. I also had a pattern for the Picture My Life cards. The front card is always a "baby's first" or journalling card and the back is always an animal. Keeping the matting styles similar on all the pages also saved me time.

So I hope you enjoyed a look at the baby album. It was a lot of fun to make! (Must admit though, I think I'm done with Georgie for a while....not that I have any left....) ;-)

Anyway, have a wonderfully creative weekend!

Hello, Baby! (part 2)

Hi All! Welcome to part 2 of the Hello, Baby! album project. Today we'll take a look at the first 3 inside pages. This album has six interactive pages that fold out and hold six 4x6 and three 3x4 photos each, which means the entire album can house 54 photos (or 108 if you have two photos per pocket). Let's take a look:

Here is page one. The front of each page has a pocket that I added a 3x4 Georgie Picture My Life card to. There are a lot of "first" cards, so I tried to use those as much as I could. I cut down and matted a 4x6 journaling card from the same collection to insert in the pocket. Three of the pages are made with White Daisy cardstock and three are made with Juniper cardstock. I matted the journalling cards with Canary cardstock. (These inserts could also work as a mat for a 4x6 photo if you wanted to use them that way.)

Here's a look at the inside of the page when the front flap is opened:

I added two 4x6 flip flaps (by Close To My Heart) to the base page and one to the inside flap. Here is where you could double up on the pictures if you so chose. I also used a strip of patterned paper (Georgie, of course) to hide the adhesive on the flip flaps.

Here is a look at the back flap of page one and the front flap of page two:

The back flap of each page has two 3x4 flip flaps attached to it, along with a journalling card that fits beneath the flip flaps. I also added a cute little Picture My Life card toward the bottom of the page. This flap also opens up and has 4x6 flip flaps inside. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get a picture of the pocket insert for page two, so you'll have to trust me when I say it was a cute one as well.

Here's a look at the back of page two and the front of page three:

Again, you'll notice that I mixed the color of the base pages so that every other one is White Daisy or Juniper cardstock.

And there you have a look at the first half of the book. Tune in for part 3 to see the rest of the pages.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a lovely and creative day!

Hello, Baby! (part 1)

Hi All! It's time to share the project that left me with all those scraps I wrote about in last Sunday's post. It's an album that I created for a friend of mine who just had her first baby. (It's a Girl!) I'm going to share the covers with you today and then the inside pages in subsequent posts. Let's take a look:

This is a 5 x 7 album that I created from chipboard, using the hidden hinge binding system that was originally created by Kathy King. (It's now all over YouTube if you want to create your own.) I wanted to do something extra special for the front of the album, so I wrapped a wooden craft frame in Georgie papers and attached it to the album with extremely strong adhesive. I added a photo mat and a Georgie Picture My Life card to the front so that Mom could add some details. I then decorated the rest of the frame using stickers and chipboard pieces from the Georgie Complements, along with some White Shimmer Trim for extra sparkle.

Here's a collage of close-ups:

For the inside cover, I added a 4x6 Picture My Life journaling card that I embellished with chipboard pieces and stickers from the Georgie complements.

For the back inside cover, I added a couple of stash pockets, and clustered a few chipboard pieces and stickers along with a bit of zip strip at the bottom for interest.

Finally, here's a look at the back cover. The front cover looked the same until I added the frame.

Creating this album start to finish was not a short process, which is why these posts will be more of a tour than a tutorial. I hope you enjoyed a look at the cover. Stay tuned for part 2 when we will delve into the pages!

In the meantime, have a wonderfully creative day!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, All! Welcome to the first Rose Blossom Blog Hop of 2015. What an inspiring way to start out the year. This hop features Close To My Heart's January Stamp of the Month: This Moment.

If you've just hopped over from the blog of the oh-so-talented Shelly Nemitz, you're on the right track. If you happen to get lost along the way or have started here, there is a list of participating blogs at the end of this post. Now, on with the project!

Today's project is a little mini album I created for my Valentine. Let's take a look:

To create this album, I used Kraft Cardstock layered with White Daisy and Cranberry Cardstock, and paper from the Heartstrings paper pack. The sentiments (from This Moment) are stamped in Cranberry Exclusive Ink on White Daisy Cardstock, fussy cut, and popped up on the front with dimensional adhesive. I added some Red Enamel Hearts for a little fairly understated bling.

Here's a look at the cover when it's open (I used some hook & loop dots to make sure the closure was secure):

Now let's take a look at the pages:

I used some small treat bags (retired) for the pages. I cut the sealed end off and used Kathy Orta's Hidden Hinge Binding System to attach the bags to the album, creating 5 pocket pages. I then used images from This Moment in Cranberry and Black Exclusive Inks to decorate the pages. ( I highly recommend stamping your pages before you bind the book...trust me...) I chose some 4x3 inch cards from the Heartstring Picture My Life Scrapbooking Program for page inserts. Here's a look:

I love the creativity you can have with acrylic stamps. The arrow above is straight in the set, but I liked it bent for this little page, so I bent it on my block, stamped it in Black Exclusive Ink, and then straightened it back out and returned it to my set none the worse for wear.

I have to confess: this last page is covering a mistake. I wiggled my stamp on the page and it just didn't look good. (Again, stamp those images BEFORE binding your pages.) However, I covered my mistake with a Heartstring PML card that I cut to fit and added some cork letters (retired) for texture. I thought it came out even better than my original idea. Love those happy accidents!

Here's one more look at the front of the album:

I hope this has given you some inspiration to create some beautiful things in January. For more inspiration, hop on over and see what the amazingly talented Morgan Vogt has for you at TweetScraps. And for your convenience, here's a list of participants:
