A Little Weekend Mojo: Thanks

Hi all! Happy Friday! Just wanted to share a little card I made that was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.

So here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it:

For this 4-Bar note card, I began with a layer of Kraft cardstock that I attached directly to the card base. I then used patterned papers from Close To My Heart's new Memo Fundamentals collection to build the card front. I added a strip of this fun copper-foiled vellum from the new Rustic Home Fundamentals (also by Close To My Heart) along with a wood grained embossed oval of Kraft cardstock to the memo paper using my mini stapler. I then added a scrap from the Memo Fundamentals papers to the oval with regular adhesive. I layered a strip of Sea Glass Glitter paper and a bit of lace from the Rustic Home ribbon pack and stapled it to the card front. I added a button from my 28 Lilac Lane Attic Findings Embellishment Kit with a bit of jute from the Rustic Home ribbon pack to cover the staple. I cut the "thanks" from black card stock using Close To My Heart's new "Thanks" Thin Cut die and added it to the front with liquid mat adhesive. I then glued the front of the card to the Kraft cardstock layer on the card base. I finished everything off with sequins from 28 Lilac Lane's Pastels Sequin Tin and some liquid glass to make the thanks shine.

Hey! Thanks a Bunch!

Hi All! As Close To My Heart's Stampganza winds down, I wanted to share another favorite stamp set with you: Floral Banners.

This D-sized set is a versatile little set, with wonderful floral images and banners that can be paired with MANY other sets. And the sentiments in this set are perfect for thank-you notes as well as simple "keeping in touch" cards.

For today's project, I decided to use a thank-you card that is based on a created by Close to My Heart's own designers. Let's take a look:

For this card, I used a standard white card base and layered it with patterned paper from the Georgie Collection. I then stamped a variety of leaf and flower images from the set on White Daisy cardstock using Fern, Smoothie, and Crystal inks. After I added the stamped panel to the card base, attached some Thick Whisper Twine to the edge of it with Liquid Glass. I then added a strip of Whisper cardstock and layered it with the sentiment, which I stamped on White Daisy cardstock with Whisper ink.

Rose Blossoms Blog Hop: A Little Blossom to Brighten Your Day

Hi All! Happy New Year and welcome to the first Rose Blossom Blog Hop for 2016! If you just hopped in from Shelly Nemitz' AMAZING blog, Just One Pretty Piece, you're in the right place. I have listed the links to all the participants at the end of this post.

Today we're featuring Close To My Heart's January 2016 Stamp of the Month: Beloved Bouquet.

This is a two-step stamp set that allows you to created depth by stamping the fill color for the roses and leaves and then overlaying it with the outline/shading of the image. The sentiments in this set are great for card making!

Speaking of which, let's take a look at today's project:

This is the time of year when we could all use a few thank you notes, so I decided to create a little 4 Bar notecard for a friend. I used the no-line technique to watercolor the roses and leaves. I stamped the outline images in Champagne ink and then watercolored them, using a light wash, and then adding darker shading when the wash was dry. While the images were drying, I stamped the sentiment from the A Thousand Thanks stamp set in VersaMark ink on vellum and heat embossed it in gold. After cutting out the smaller blossom, I added some gold thread to my card front and layered on the sentiment with dimensional adhesive. I then added the smaller blossom to the sentiment to hide the dimensional adhesive. Finally, I added some shimmer to the roses using iridescent medium. (Unfortunately, it's been so gray here, I couldn't pick up the shimmer with the camera.)

The Rose Blossom Blog Hop...Where Being Framed Is A Good Thing....

Hi All! Welcome to the first Rose Blossom Blog Hop for the month of August. (That's right, August! The summer is flying by!) Today we're featuring Close To My Heart's August Stamp of the Month: Framed. (Oh the puns were flying when I was writing this...)

If you just hopped over from Shelly's inspiring blog, Just One Pretty Piece, you're on the right path. If you're just starting with me, I'll have a full list of blog participants at the end of the post. So on with today's project!

"Framed" is a fantastic stamp set for card makers, so today I'm bringing you a little card set that I crafted. Here's a look at the portfolio that is created from Kraft Cardstock. I layered inside and out with Ponderosa Pine cardstock and the coordinating paper from the Paper Fundamentals Enchantment Assortment pack. Then I looped a little hemp twine from my stash and tucked it under the Colonial White cardstock tag that I made from the Framed stamp set. I used Ponderosa Pine and Desert Sand inks for stamping. Finally I added some Gold Sequins layered with brown sparkles for a little extra bling.

Here's a close-up of the embellishment and a look at the portfolio when opened:

This portfolio holds nine cards and 10 envelopes. (Don't know about you, but I always need an extra envelope....) There are three each of three designs, with each card using a different color of paper from the Paper Fundamentals Enchantment Assortment pack that is layered on a Kraft cardstock base. I stamped the frame in matching ink and the sentiments in Dessert Sand on Colonial White cardstock. Let's take a look:

Here are the thank you notes in Smokey Plum, New England Ivy, and Autumn Terracotta. I added a little flag embellishment of matching paper with the mini stapler, as you can see below:

Here are the birthday cards in Outdoor Denim, Olive, and Barn Red. And here's a look at the embellishment:

And here are the thinking of you cards in Indian Corn Blue, Goldrush, and Ruby. As you can see, I couldn't decide how I wanted the extra splash of color to be positioned. Here's the close-up:
