A Cute Little Card Box for (Beautiful) YOU! (Part 2: the cards)

Hi All! Welcome to the second part of my card box project. Today we're going to take a look at the cards.

     

I started with a layer of Juniper cardstock cut at 4 x 5 1/4 inches. I then added a layer of Georgie paper that I had folded "drapery" style. I covered the top edge of the folds with a zip strip from the patterned paper and then finished it off with White & Gold Ribbon. I stamped the sentiments on White Daisy cardstock in Whisper ink. I cut them out using an oval punch and popped them up with foam tape on a scalloped oval punched from Georgie paper  I then popped that up with some thin foam tape  Finally I added the whole thing to a white card base using fun foam for dimension. Because of all the layers and dimension, I was able to fit 4 cards and envelopes in the box comfortably. (I probably could have squeezed in a fifth card and envelope, but I didn't want to run the risk of tearing the cards when I took them out.)

Hi All! Welcome to the Rose Blossom Stamp Of The Month Blog Hop, featuring the May 2015 Stamp Of The Month: Just Sayin'. If you just hopped over from the so very talented Shelly Nemitz's blog, you're in the right place.

So let's get to it! The Just Sayin' stamp set is perfect for scrapbooking. Whether your style runs toward the traditional 12x12 inch layout or along the lines of pocket scrapbooking, the icons and sentiments in this set would be perfect embellishments to your layouts. Because it lends itself so well to scrapbooking, I thought I would use this stamp set to make a card. (It's just the way I roll...) Here's what I came up with:

I used a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch card base cut from White Daisy cardstock. I then layered a piece of Thistle cardstock cut at 1/8 of an inch smaller than the base. The top layer is a piece of White Daisy cardstock cut at 1/8 of an inch smaller than the Thistle layer. 

The funky flower is made using the triangle stamp for petals, the circle stamp for the center, the banner stamp for the stem, and the square stamp for the grass. The petals are stamped in Thistle, Lagoon, and Sorbet Exclusive Inks. I stamped the center in Cotton Candy Exclusive Ink on a 1-inch round piece of White Daisy cardstock, which I then popped up with dimensional adhesive. The stem and the grass are both stamped in Pear Exclusive Ink, and the clouds are stamped in Crystal Blue Exclusive Ink. 

I stamped "Just Sayin'" in Thistle, again on White Daisy, and fussy cut around it. I added "Love Your Smile" from the Documenting Moments stamp set in Lagoon and Sorbet. I attached it to the stem and added a little bow of Thistle Diagonal Striped Ribbon for fun. I then added the whole thing to the Thistle cardstock layer.

February Stamp Of The Month: Home Sweet Home

I decided to call today's project (which I am linking to the Heart 2 Heart Tag It challenge) my "Tea &..." folio.

The folio is made from Kraft Cardstock. It's essentially a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4-inch card that I scored at 1 1/4 inches along the bottom to create pockets. I scored the left side at 3/8-inch and punched 2 holes to bind it. A little Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon does a great job for the binding. I covered the outside and part of the inside with Chantilly Paper. The little flower was made with a punch in my collection and the "Just For You" sentiment is from the Card Word Puzzle stamp set. (A hugely versatile, go-to set for me.) The sentiment is stamped in Twilight Exclusive Ink on Crystal Blue Cardstock. I added a couple of small wooden buttons from the Mini-Medley Accents Wooden Collection tied with bakers twine for a little fun.

The tag that tucks in the front pocket doubles as a bookmark. (I ask you, what better use could you find for a Jane Austen quote?) The quote (which is from the Stamp Of The Month set) is stamped in Twilight Exclusive Ink on Sweet Leaf Cardstock. The bookmark is cut from a double layer of Crystal Blue Cardstock and accented with Chantilly Paper. (Chantilly just says "Jane Austen" to me.) I used Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon and bakers twine to add a tie to the tag. Because I'm using this as a bookmark, I left off the bling. (Gasp! I know, right!) But books don't need the bulk of the bling. 

When you open up the folio, there's another little pocket for a tea bag. Cute, yes? I left the inside cover blank to add a sentiment later. It could be "Tea & Thanks" or "Tea & Sympathy" or "Tea & Just Because," I haven't decided yet.
