To A Special Friend

Hi All! Just thought I'd pop in with a quick card I made from a piece I watercolored for #thedailymarker30day coloring challenge. Let's take a look:

For this card, I began by creating a standard A2 card base from Kraft Cardstock. I then cut a frame from the front using the A Bunch of Love Thin Cut dies by Close To My Heart and my Sizzix Big Shot Plus. I then used my Misti Stamping tool to line up the coordinating stamp from the A Bunch of Love Stamp set. I stamped the image and the "special friend" sentiment in VersaMark ink and embossed them in white embossing powder. I then used my Misti to stamp the sentiment on the front in VersaMark, and used white embossing powder on it as well. I then watercolored the image and let it dry. After it was dry, I added a little shimmer to it using my Wink of Stella clear pen.

I then added paint splatters to the front of the card for extra texture and color. I felt like the opening needed something extra to make it pop, so I outlined it in pearl white using my Kuretaki Gansai Tambi water colors. Finally I added the bow and some yellow sequins from my stash for a little extra bling.

Here are some close ups:

I hope you enjoyed this card. This particular die and stamp set will only be available through the end of August so you might want to hop on over and grab them before they're gone!

Have a wonderfully creative week!

Hey You Crazy Cat!

Hi All! Welcome to the Rose Blossom Blog Hop featuring Close To My Heart's August Stamp of the Month: Purr-fect Halloween.

If you just hopped over from the wonderfully creative Shelly Nemitz's blog, Just One Pretty Piece, you are in the right place. I'll have a list of participants at the end of the post.

Let me start by fessing up that I'm not much of a cat person, and I'm really not ready to go the Halloween route yet. So I thought this stamp set would be tough to work with for me. Until I saw the "You're one crazy cat" sentiment. SOLD! I have a few verbal go-tos, ticks, if you will: "dude" (I'm a child of the 80s), "just sayin'" (no idea where I picked it up, but can't seem to put it down) and "you crazy cat" (which, oddly, is often said to our dog). So I decided to create a couple of cards for those crazy cats I call my kids. Let's take a look:

For each card, I stamped the cat image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on White Daisy cardstock. I chose eyes that conveyed "girl" and "boy" to me and stamped those in Memento as well. I then taped both to my work surface and watercolored them. You'll notice the tails. I decided to pay a little tribute to my daughter's summer hair color with a little blue and purple. As for my son, he's been going back and forth on adding a little green to his hair all summer. I added a little blue to the eyes and color to the girl's cheeks and let everything dry. After that, I added a little ground for the cats to sit on an stamped the sentiment using pigment inks in two brand-spankin'-new colors: Raspberry and Willow. I heat embossed the sentiments with clear embossing powder for some extra texture and shine, and added a little shimmer pen to the tails because...well...it's shimmer pen. And I can. So why wouldn't I?

These are 4-bar cards (3 1/2 x 5 inches) that I created from White Daisy cardstock and mounted to slightly larger pieces of Raspberry and Willow cardstocks. For the front, I added the watercolored pieces to  slightly larger pieces of Raspberry and Willow paper from the new Adventure Fundamentals paper packs and then popped the whole panel up on the front of the note card using foam tape.

I used matching pigment inks to create the sentiment on the inside using the new This & That stamp set by Close to My Heart.

Here's a look at the cards and the sentiments in side:

And here's one more look at the two together:

Only one more week until those crazy cats get back from camp! I miss them and so does the craziest cat, our dog, Toni!

Hope you enjoyed this little notes. Be sure to hop on over to Tweetscraps and see what the amazingly talented Morgan Vogt has for your inspiration.

Here's a list of hop participants if you get lost along the way:

Thankful Thursday: the Tall & the Skinny

Hi All! Welcome to another Thankful Thursday. Today's card was inspired by the current Tall & Skinny challenge over at Mojo Monday. Here's a look at the sketch:

And here's my card:

My card base is 3 1/2 x 6 inches. The base and bottom layer are both cut from White Daisy cardstock. I wanted to continue to play with my new CTMH Watercolors, so I did a small background wash of blues and greens on watercolor paper and added it to the bottom layer, along with a strip of Gold Shimmer Trim for a little bling.

The flowers are cut from White Daisy cardstock. I stamped them in Pear, Lagoon, Honey and Hollyhock inks using the Dizzy Circles stamp set, and popped up the smaller one with dimensional adhesive. The sentiment is from the new A Thousand Thanks stamp set, and is stamped on White Daisy cardstock. (LOVE. THIS. SET.) "Thanks" is stamped in the new Peacock ink (gorgeous color!) and "friend" is in archival black ink.

Finally, I added some Gold Sequins for a little extra fun. Here are a few of close-ups of the card:

And here's another look at the card:

Hope you enjoyed this project. Have a fabulous day filled with gratitude!
